Retelling Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Our STAR Book this week was Goldilocks and the Three Bears by James Marshall. STAR stands for Story Telling And Retelling. After reading the book each day during the week of September 19-23, our students identified the setting (in the forest), characters (Goldilocks, Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear), and the sequence of events. Students used six pictures, depicting important events in the story, and laid them out in order to practice retelling the story. Please encourage your child to retell the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears to your family.

Progress Report Time!

We are half way through the first quarter and that means it's progress report time! On Monday, the 26th you will receive a copy of your child's progress report. It will indicate how your child is doing academically with a communications (reading and writing) grade and a math grade. There will also be a social growth and development grade. This grade indicates how your child is doing with regard to behavior.

I am also requesting a conference with every parent. I will schedule a date and time for you to come in. If you can not make it to your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can reschedule.

Please look over this document carefully. I am asking that you sign the last page, detach it from the rest of the progress report and return that portion to school. Thanks!

Blog Quiz!

Congratulations to all of the students pictured below! They earned a book by turning in the correct answer to our "Blog Pop Quiz." There will be a quiz on each of our monthly newsletters so look for it next month.

There was one quiz with no name on it. If you turned in an answer but do not see your child's picture below, please let me know ASAP.

Have a great weekend!
